FAQ'S

1 / How do I choose the right therapist?

For me, there is a single most important objective for choosing your therapist and that is perceiving you might be able to have a relationship with them and trust them. From an initial perspective is this someone I can sit with for an hour to help myself.

The theory surrounding Psychodynamic counselling is, people may be struggling as a result of dealing with a fixed mindset and the boundaries around that mindset, which may now be based on behavioural defences no longer required.

2 / What type of therapy do you offer?

Psychodynamic therapy. Its primary focus is to reveal the unconscious content of a client's psyche in an effort to alleviate tension, which is inner conflict within the mind that was created in a situation of extreme stress or emotional hardship.

3 / What happens if I miss a session?

If you miss a session, payment is still required, you are given a weekly time slot allocated to you for a time until you decide to end your therapy. Therefore, your time-slot is no longer available to offer to another client.

If the counsellor cancels a session you will not be charged and notice will be provided. Payment is to be setup via Direct Debit Bank Payment. If you have any issues with this, please do get in touch. I will do my best to offer an alternative.

4 / How long does each therapy session take?

Each session is 50 minutes and usually starts on the hour.

Short and long term work is both taken on.

5 / What can I expect during therapy?

Different people will get different results from their therapy experience. The International Centre for Clinical Excellence (ICCE)’s recent study suggests: Clients in counselling or therapy are in a better place then those who don’t seek help.

6 / Am I assured of absolute confidentiality and privacy?

Generally, Notes will not be taken within our sessions, there will be an ability to speak freely. However I may take notes in the first session which would then be destroyed. As a Psychodynamic therapist we have open conversations, that are absolutely confidential however should I feel that any individial may be at risk of any form I reserve the rights to contact their local GP.

7 / What happens if I want to speak between sessions?

Psychodynamic therapy holds boundaries to protect both client and councellor. Should I be contacted I will do my best to respond within 48 hours. If you feel you are at a point of crisis please call an emergency helpline like the Samaritans on 116 113.

8 / How can I engage you as a therapist?

I can be reached via email at tracy.harris@me.com and I will do my best to respond as quickly as I can.
